EMILE JOACHIM CONSTANT PUYO

French (1857 – 1933)
One of France's great artists of the Pictorialist school, Puyo was a member of the Photo Club de Paris, the Linked Ring and the S.F.P. (Société Française de Photographie). His theories were published in La Revue de photographie and he wrote with Robert Demachy, E. Wallon and Leclerc de Pulligny in specialized publications. A master of non-silver printing, gum and bromoil were his specialty. His images were widely published and highlighted at international shows. After WWI he became director of the Photo Club de Paris and continued in the Pictorialist tradition from 1920 to1930.
