French (1841 – 1885)
Marconi's archives of nude studies were recorded with the Bibliothèque Nationale (Paris) in 1869, 1870 and 1873. He called himself "photographe de l'Ecole des Beaux Arts". His work revealed an academic production with little aesthetic concern, as his primary goal was to please art school clients, notably professors. At that time images of male nudes were a rarity. They were, however, necessary for painters as an exact likeness of the human figure.
